About LoanMetra

There is not much to explain about LoanMetra. It is a loan calculator, and its job is showing the payment, total interest and payoff date for a loan and models what an extra or early repayment saves. What follows is how it works, why it exists, and what it does with your data.

What LoanMetra is for

Search for personal-finance tools and you will mostly find pages that bury a single calculation under cookie walls, newsletter modals and three paragraphs of filler. We built LoanMetra as the opposite: one focused tool that shows the payment, total interest and payoff date for a loan and models what an extra or early repayment saves, and nothing between you and the answer. Keeping it that narrow is what makes it fast, and what makes it honest about how the result is produced.

How the calculation works

There is no server in the loop at all. It amortises the balance month by month, charging interest at the annual rate divided by twelve and applying your payment, then repeats the run with any extra repayment so the interest and time the overpayment removes are shown directly, and that description is the real algorithm rather than a simplification of it, so you can repeat the sum by hand and compare the two.

What happens to your input

Your input stays local: the loan amount, rate, term and repayments are handled entirely by the page and never leave your device. You can turn off your connection after loading and the tool still works, which is the simplest proof that nothing is being sent.

Who tends to use it

How this stays free

Advertising pays for the running of LoanMetra; nothing here is subscription-based. No advertiser is given the values you enter, and an advert appearing beside a tool is never a recommendation of it.
